How To Open A Safe Without A Key And Combination?
Lost your keys? Forgot the combination too? Now what? I’m sure you don’t want to crack open your safe. Fortunately, there are other ways you can open a safe without a key and combination.
The quickest way to unlock a safe without a key is to call a professional locksmith. If a safe doesn’t seem to open the normal way, do not attempt to force it open with any other key.
Wouldn’t it be great to know how to open your safe if you lost the combination? Have you had problems with your safe’s batteries? Was your safe broken into by someone? A locksmith should be contacted as soon as possible.
Before you contact a local locksmith, you will need to gather some information. If you provide the correct information, they may be able to provide you with the original combination, override code, or the master backup key you need to unlock the safe.
Before I Call A Professional Locksmith, What Information Should I Gather?
When you call a locksmith, you should have all the information you need. It is best to have as much information as possible. They can get access to your security small safe quicker if you give them the correct information.
If you wish to contact a safe locksmith, make sure to prepare the following information first:
- Description of the safe and its series.
- Serial number and model of the safe.
- Enter by keypad or manually.
How Do Locksmiths Open Locked Safes?
In order to properly diagnose the condition of your bedroom safe, the safe technician must first diagnose it. He will then review the condition of the combination lock pack if it is not a digital combination.
It is possible he might try picking open the lock instead of destroying the combination dial if there is a manual key override. After successfully picking the safe open, it should open by turning the handle.
It may be necessary in some circumstances for the safe technician to drill out the lock in order to gain access to the combination safe. It takes hours of practice to pick a lock, and if you are not careful, you can damage the lock as well. Our recommendation is to leave it to the professionals, so there is no further harm done to the safe.
It all depends on the level of security your safe has on how long it will take to access it. This will also determine the options for unlocking your safe.
A few minutes to several hours are usually needed to get you in. A low-end safe can be opened relatively easily and is not regarded as a professional safe.
If you are unsure about what to do, make sure you stop by your local locksmith shop before making your choice. Hardened steel plates are typically found on safes rated for residential use, which provide resistance to drilling attacks.
Higher-end security safes have hardened steel plates as thick as 12″-14″ making it difficult to open, even for professionals.
These hard plates are bypassed by locksmiths using special bits. Once they have you inside your safe, they will repair the safe door and seal any holes that have been made. When this has been completed, the damaged locking mechanism will be replaced. You may not even notice a difference after the repairs have been made.
Opening A Safe Without A Key And Combination
The key to the safe can often be misplaced or even forgotten, and you may also forget the combination. It is important to know the procedures to follow in order to open the safe without a key. You can try following these tips below. For opening a Barska safe, read Robert’s article here.
1. Using A Hammer And Chisel To Open The Safe
You can also open a digital safe using a hammer and chisel, provided you have an extended flat chisel. Smack gently with the hammer on the top of the keypad with the tip of the chisel. Take the keypad out with your hand.
You will now find a hole after removing the lock. The door of the safe can be opened by inserting a finger through the small opening. The method is very easy to use, but it requires that you fix your safe.
2. Using A Knife Or Similar Tool To Open The Safe
Knives are perhaps the easiest method to open the safe. To accomplish this, insert the knife tip into the keyhole with the help of the tip. After shaking the knife for a few seconds, the lock should eventually open up. The safe will open in a few minutes or seconds after the above steps are completed.
3. Use A Screwdriver To Open A Safe Without A Key
If you are using a Knife or Screwdriver, slide the pointed end down or rotate the anticlockwise direction. If you are using a knife or screwdriver, ensure that the pointed tip fits into the keyhole. The method is virtually identical to the use of a nail cutter filter and is most appropriate for Sentry Safe.
Putting the screwdriver on a flat surface and inserting the tip of the screwdriver into the keyhole is the first step. In order to open the safe, turn the screwdriver counterclockwise.
4. Bore Scope And Resetting The Combination To Open The Safe
To use this method, you must drill a hole in the back of the Digital Safe. Once the borescope is inserted into the hole, it should be reset. A code can now be set for any safe that you desire. There is, however, a concern that it will damage the structure and security of the building.
5. A Paper Clip For Opening A Safe
If you don’t have a key, you can use a paper clip to open your safe. You can open the safe with a paper clip by making sure the clip is straight, then inserting the end of the clip into the upper part of the lock.
Make sure your paper clip is straight first. Using the wire cutter, make two cuts in the middle of the paper clip. You can now bend one half of the Paper Clip at a 90-degree angle in order to resemble a paper tension tool and bend the other half at a 45-degree angle to resemble a picker with a needle-nosed gauge.
At the bottom of the keyhole, you should insert the clip that looks like a tension tool. Now rotate counterclockwise. Next, insert the feeler pick into the keyhole from the upper side. Turn the 45-degree bend up so that it faces up. Then open the safe by fluttering the feeler pick.
The paper clip should be held in place using a tweezer. After inserting the paper clip into the lock, the lock will become activated. Put the paper clip into the lock as deep as possible. The tweezers and paper clip should be turned counterclockwise in order to open the lock.
6. Opening The Safe Using A Nail Cutter Filer
For opening safes, nail cutter filers have been used for many years. Simple nail cutters and filers can be used to open safes easily. You probably have a nail cutter at home. Once you have inserted the pointed tip of the nail cutter filer into the keyhole, jiggle it upwards and downwards until the pin releases.
7. Using The Bounce Or Smack Method To Open A Safe
Digital Safe is the only product that can be used with this method. Make sure your safe is on a surface that bounces. As you hold the safe out two feet above the surface, place your left hand on the back of the safe and your right hand on the front, and try to open the door while falling down on the surface.
See the magic of this method by experimenting with it several times. Try following other methods, especially when using the rare earth magnet, if this method does not work.
A third method is to smack the solenoid gently with the hammer and try to open the door at the same time. If you try this a few times, you should be able to succeed at the end of it.
8. Drilling Through The Safe
When all other options have been exhausted, drilling should be considered. A locksmith is a better option than drilling before you consider it. You may have to drill to open a safe if you’ve forgotten the combination or you’ve lost the key.
A small hole must be drilled in a place where you can see the lock inside the safe in order to open the safe through drilling.
The lock inside the safe can be unlocked by inserting the finger into the drill hole. As a result of drilling, the safe may be damaged. This is a step you need to consider carefully before taking.
How To Open A Safe With A Rare Earth Magnet?
It does not matter what kind of safe you need to open since you could easily open it with Neodymium Rare Earth Magnets within a few seconds. You do not need to follow any other methods if you are using a Neodymium Magnet with a pulling force between 120 and 300 pounds.
There is an option to buy it online for under $20 if you haven’t got any. Nevertheless, use it with caution as it is quite powerful. Keep it away from electronics, household items, pacemakers, and people who wear them.
You can easily shatter them both if you bring them close together with another Neodymium Magnet. Keep your fingers away from magnets and the safe, as they may cause your finger to become acutely injured.
After following all the steps outlined above, attach a Neodymium Magnet to a Gym Sock and stick it to the top left corner of the Sentry Safe, then return it to its rightful place. Not open yet? Watch the magic unfold as you move around!
You can see the effects of the magnet by placing it under Digital Safe, straight below the solenoid. Your safe is now opened.
Is There Anything I Can Do To Avoid Being Locked Out Of The Safe?
In order to deal with these situations, prevention is necessary. Backup records should always be kept just in case, but not in the safe where they belong. Make sure you remember the combinations without rewriting them again and again.
Maintain a spare key for your safe if it uses keys. If you lose the key, you can get another copy from your local locksmith. You should replace your keypad batteries regularly and avoid using cheap ones. When it comes to security safes, Duracell is best.
Avoid overfilling your safe or piling up too many items in it. This will put abnormal pressure on the lock. Unfortunately, it’s much more common than you might expect.
What Should I Do If My Safe Is Locked?
If you need a locksmith to open your safe, be sure to hire a licensed and experienced professional. It is also important to work with a licensed, bonded, and insured professional. Local locksmiths can be found by contacting local locksmith services or state agencies.
